Outlaws would be the way to go. I rode them on a freeride hardtail and on my downhill bike. Cheap and strong.

I've painted two frames using a compressor and real spray gun, I used Sherwin Williams automotive paint and was happy with the outcome. You'll probably have to spend close to 100$ to get some good paint but its will worth it. Dont do it when its to cold because the paint will be thick and run, humid...

X2, never been to catamount but jiminy is one of my favorite mountains on the east coast, all natural, flowy terrain. I love it.

I would say where ever your rear wheel leaves the ground to where ever it comes into contact with the ground again. Measure that with a straight vertical line and there you go.

** if posting on Pinkbike, be sure to add atleast 3 feet.
