Post Im stuck in Lowell for the summer...
Im stuck taking a few summer courses at UMass Lowell for the summer...what sucks is I have to get here for 8am and then have another at 7-10pm, with gas at 4$ a gallon I cant afford several trips a day back to the rockport area....So im looking for something to do during the days, Any good riding around here? Its been a long time since ive ridden anything besides highland/lynn/north shore around here. Looking to keep it within 30mins away from the area to keep gas down.

You can send me a message if you dont want to post, I have a car and am down for shuttles, all mountain, DJ... anything but spandex xc.

I dont know the area very well but from the surface of it Lowell sucks

As a start...

When you get bored with that stuff then you've got more than 100 miles of trail (yes, that's what I said) up the road in and around Groton. There's also a handful of skateparks in the city, as well as plenty of off-the-beaten path trails and spots to mess around. Plenty of patio bars too. :drinking:

I work in Lowell and there are some fun places very local.

If you want to do some XC rides, no spandex here, I can give you tour. I usually go after work and sometimes during lunch.

Definitely put Lowell-Dracut-Tyngsboro (LDT) forest a the top of your list. Some really fun stuff in there.

I wish highland was a bit closer but an hour 10 is a bit too far, hour to lowell, 2 hours to and back from highland then an hour home, with gas prices right now im not made of money

Hitting Lynnwoods thursday round 11am then LDT most likely friday sometime mid-day. Once I get the feel for the area again I will be going on weekly rides if anyone wants to tag along

Anyone know a good local lunch spot in lowell? Looking for good grinders or something up that ally. Also trying to find a good cafe to study and a good patio bar with cheap afternoon specials. Yea I tried to look but got hopelessly lost as usual.

Sal's is pretty good and very easy to find. They are good for quick stuff.

Jimmy's Too is really good.

Those are just two out of many.

Tyngsboro Sate forest has some good trails, along with Russell Mills trails in chelmsford. Good local spots to tool around on!

Hit LDT today, I had a map in my bag thanks to splat and planned on using it but I met lowells healthy population of horsefly's and decided to keep on the move as much as possible. I hit pretty much everything

Now for my good deed for the day: I found a tool on the trail, If you lost something today shoot me a pm where you lost it and what it is/brand/color/ect and I will get it back to you.

Next ride on wednesday, hopefully somewhere with a bit more freeride...might just bite the bullet and go check out nam

I've been heading down to burlington and riding the "landlocked forest" lately. Reaaaallly cool, lots of man made stuff and difficulty levels.

Its on the Burlington/Lexington line and runs parallel to route 3 (literally hugs the rock faces on the highway.)

highly recommended if you get bored of LDT
