     New EFTA Class for the 2002 Season - Clydesdale, Sport Level

You asked for it and you got it! EFTA (Eastern Fat Tire Association) will feature the new Sport Clydesdale class for the 2002 season. Thank you to the numerous members who expressed their interest in having EFTA provide this competitive class. And a big thank you must go out to Cyclesmith Bike Shop in beautiful, downtown Henniker, New Hampshire, as they have agreed to sponsor the class for the 2002 season for all EFTA sanctioned races. As with any current new class, it will be offered for the season on a trial basis. Continuation of the class beyond the 2002 season will depend on various factors, including a material level of race entries in this field. So double your training efforts, double your race miles, and double your fun in the sport category!



     IMBA to Return to Mt. Agammenticus for 2002 Trail Care Event

YORK, ME - ARMBA (Agamenticus Region Mountain Bike Association) is totally stoked to announce that IMBA's Trail care Crew #3, Rich and Jen Edwards, will be returning to the Mountain the weekend of June 29th for a second imformative and super-fun visit.      NEMBA Making Progress in Keeping Vietnam Open

MILFORD, MA - On May 24th, Philip Keyes represented NEMBA at another meeting with the head of the Milford Conservation Commission and the Rails to Trail Conservancy and MassBike (and Bikes Belong). The purpose of the meeting was to find ways for the three bike-focused organizations to work together on this project. Rails to Trails committed to offering expertise to help move forward the rail trail project in Milford which runs adjacent to Vietnam, and MassBike offered political assistance in helping this project. NEMBA has been requested to do an analysis of the current trails system as well as initiate fundraising for NEMBA's Land Preservation Fund for the possible purchase of land. read more

     Bear Brook State Park Struggles with Illegal ATVs in the Park

ALLENSTOWN, NH - Disrespectful young ATV riders have been tearing up some of Bear Brook State park's best singletrack. Beside destroying the hiking and biking trails, they have become a major hazard for motorists driving through the park. "These are unsupervised youngsters, they ride up the middle of (Deerfield Road) and cars have to swerve to avoid them." Said one park ranger. Some of the ATV riders, when confronted about riding in the park have shouted "...no one is going to tell me where I can ride my ATV!." read more

     IMBA's National Mountain Bike Patrol Expands for 9th Year

IMBA's National Mountain Bike Patrol program is growing fast. Founded in 1994, this volunteer trail assistance program now includes more than 70 patrol units and 600 patrollers across the U.S. and in Canada, Italy, and Japan. Seventeen new patrol units have started this year. Six prestigious corporate sponsors are providing financial and equipment support. read more
