     Team KONA/SRAM Truck Stolen

The Kona/SRAM truck was stolen en route from Alpine Valley to the Snowshoe, WV NORBA event. It appears they made off with a bunch of loot that was headed for the race. They dumped the truck, but removed all the gear inside. read more

     Doored Cyclist Struck by Bus, Pronounced Dead

CAMBRIDGE, MA - A Cambridge cyclist was killed on July 2, 2002 while riding her bicycle through busy Central Square at 3:25 in the afternoon. Cambridge resident, Dana Laird was reportedly travelling west on Mass Ave, doored by a parked car while riding in the bike lane, thrown from her bicycle and struck by an MBTA bus. Just 36 years old, she was pronounced dead at the scene. read more

CTNEMBA will be your host for this fourth stage of the ride series. Registration will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with no set start time but we hope to conclude by 1:30 PM (i.e. everyone signed back in form the rides). It's not a race but rather a selection of rides designed to showcase the bicycling opportunities in Cockaponset. The routes range from beginner loops on woods roads up to full on advanced routes promising to test the mettle of the seasoned rider. All routes are marked. read more



     ARMBA to Become Mt. Agamenticus NEMBA

YORK, ME - ARMBA has successfully petitioned the New England Mountain Bike Association to become a chapter i.e. ARMBA will become Mt. Agamenticus NEMBA. This move will provide us with a solid administrative and organizational structure critical to protecting and promoting MTB access at the Mt. Agamenticus area.The transition is expected to occur in July and all ARMBA members in good standing will receive automatic NEMBA membership for the season.



     FOMBA Releases Trail Care Schedule

We will continue to hold education days in conjunction with the work parties for all dates with the exception of the August weekend(*) in the White Mountains. PINKHAM NOTCH, NH - Volunteers are needed for a variety of positions for the upcoming 24 Hours of Great Glen presented by RSN mountain bike race on August 10-11, 2002. Positions that need volunteers include campground hosting, traffic control, timing, registration, and clean up. Volunteers are asked to contribute 4-6 hour shifts during the event and will receive a limited edition event T-shirt, a meal pass, 2 trail passes to Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center good for a day of mountain biking or cross country skiing, and a pass for a Stage trip or private vehicle up the Mt. WASHINGTON, D.C - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Cane Creek Cycling Components (Cane Creek), of Fletcher, N.C., is voluntarily recalling about 7,700 bicycle suspension seat posts. The seat post's cradle, which attaches to the bicycle seat, can break, posing the risk of falls and serious injury to riders. read more
